Introduction
This cake uses whole wheat flour, producing a denser cake than my original chocolate cake. I like to serve this cake plain with my cherry pie filling spooned on top. Ingredients
-
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup plain nonfat yogurt
3/4 cups applesauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoons baking soda
2 1/2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
Directions
Get out a big bowl and your electric beaters, or a whisk. First cream together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla, and beat again, until the mixture is light, fluffy and satiny. Next measure in the yogurt and the applesauce. Beat again. Finally dump in the dry ingredients. Use the electric beaters to mix it all up for a full minute or two, until it is relatively lump free. Dump the batter into a 8 x 8 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 or 40 minutes. Check the cake by sticking a clean fork or toothpick into the center of it. If the fork comes out clean, the cake is done. When cake is cool, frost if desired.
