Ingredients
-
2 Tsp. Canola Oil
1 Lg. Onion, Diced
4 Garlic cloves, finely chopped
1-1/2 TBSP. Fresh Ginger, minced
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 Tsp. Turmeric
1/4 Tsp. Garam Masala
1/2 Tsp. Smoked Spanish Paprika
1 Large Tomato, diced
2 TBSP. Heinz Ketchup
1 (11 oz.) pkg. Hebrew National 97% Fat Free Beef Franks, sliced into thin rounds
1/4 Cup Water, if necessary
2 Tsp. Cilantro paste, or 1 Handful Cilantro Leaves (minced)
2 Toufayan Pitas, Low Carb, cut in HALF.
Directions
Heat oil in Lg. non-stick skillet over med heat until shimmering.
Add onions, garlic, ginger, and carrots. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Saute until onions are softened and slightly brown around the edges, about 8 minutes.
Add turmeric, garam masala, and paprika, quickly stirring for 20 seconds to keep spices from burning. Stir in tomatoes and ketchup, and taste for seasoning. Add salt and pepper if needed.
Add in hot dog rounds, stirring to cover with tomato mixture. Add 1/4 cup water if the mixture is dry. Cover and simmer over med-low heat 15 minutes.
Taste and season accordingly. Remove from heat, stir in cilantro. Divide into 4 equal portions and stuff a pita half with the mixture. Enjoy!
