Ingredients

    2 lb. ham hock or bone-in ham
    8 c. water
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 c. pineapple juice

Directions

Boil pineapple juice and 1 c. water in a saucepan on the stove, add brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Place ham (or ham hock) in a baking dish with remaining water and baste with juice mixture. Press cloves into the surface of the meat, if desired, for additional flavor.

Bake for 2 1/2 hours. Reserve liquid from pan (in the case of baking a ham) as a soup base. Makes 10 cups ham stock.
