Introduction

Ingredients

1 Cup Boiling Water
1 Cup Chopped Dates
3/4 tsp Baking Soda
2 Cups All Purpose flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1 Cup Granulated Sugar
1/2 Cup Egg Whites (or two eggs)
1/4 Cup Sunsweet Lighter Bake Butter & Oil Replacement
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
3/4 Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
Directions
Preheat Oven to 350 F, spray a 9X13 cake pan with cooking spray.
Dissolve 3/4 tsp baking soda in the boiling water & stir in date, set aside to cool slightly, while preparing the rest of the ingredients.
In another small bowl, blend flour & 1 tsp of baking soda.
In a third small bowl,mix chocolate chips with the brown sugar.
In a large bowl, blend granulated sugar & Sunsweet Lighter Bake, stir in egg whites, until well mixed.
Add date & water mixture to large bowl. Stir until well blended.
Add flour mixture to wet ingredients, stir until blended.
Pour batter into prepared pan (batter will be quite thin).
Sprinkle Brown Sugar & Chocolate Chip mixture evenly over the top of the batter.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes ( a toothpick should come out clean)
Cool & cover.
Into 1.5" squares ~52 pieces
This cake will be even moister the next day.
