Introduction

Yummy beans with bits of smoked ham. Yummy beans with bits of smoked ham.
Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    -4 C. dry pinto beans
    -1.25lb or 2 smoked ham hocks
    -1 medium onion diced
    -1.75 C. diced celery
    -1 to 2 cloves minced garlic
    -8 C. water
    Optional:
    -ground black pepper (to taste)
    -1 tsp. liquid smoke
    -2 tsp. Lawry's garlic salt
    - sliced peperoncini's &/or juice to tase

Directions

Place all ingredients into large slow cooker. Cook on high for 6 hours (stirring occasionally if you are around) or until ham hocks come apart. Remove skin, bones, & visible fat from ham and discard. Serve hot. Great leftover.
Makes approx. ten 1 cup servings.
Note: Fat & calories may vary slightly as much of the ham hock is removed after cooking, leaving only the leaner bits of meat.
