Ingredients

    Ingredients:
    Olive oil 2 tbsp
    Canadian Bacon, 454 grams (remove)
    Butter, salted, 1 tbsp (remove)
    Onions, raw, 2 large (remove)
    Carrots, cooked, 3 carrot (remove)
    Celery, cooked, 3 stalks (remove)
    Turnips, 2 medium (remove)
    *Potato, raw, 3 large (3" to 4-1/4" dia.) (remove)
    Lentils, 2.25 cup (remove)
    Chicken stock, home-prepared, 2 cup (remove)
    2 Bay Leaf
    1/4 cup chopped parsley
    1 tbsp dried thyme
    Water, tap, 3 cup (8 fl oz) (remove)
    Salt, 1.5 tsp (remove)

Directions

Brown Canadian bacon in Olive oil and butter (or bacon fat)on medium heat
Add chopped onion, cook until translucent
Add remaining vegetables and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently
Add Lentils, herbs and liquid
Bring to boil, reduce to simmer and cook for approximately 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until lentils are tender

Makes about 18, 1 cup servings
