Ingredients

    1 1/2 C all purpose flour (whole wheat is a good substitution)
    2 tsp baking powder
    1/4 tsp baking soda
    1/4 tsp salt
    3/4 C granulated sugar
    1/2 tsp allspice
    1/3 C butter, softened
    1 tsp orange zest
    1/4 C orange juice (or any citrus juice)
    2 eggs
    2 medium nectarines, peeled & coarsely chopped
    1/2 C fresh blueberries
    2/3 C chopped or slivered almonds
    1 T granulated sugar

Directions

Heat oven to 350. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the sugar, allspice, butter, orange zest, orange juice and eggs. Beat with a mixer until ingredients are blended. Carefully fold in the chopped nectarines, blueberries and 1/4 C chopped almonds.

Fill greased muffin tins. Stir together 1 T sugar and the remainder of the almonds. sprinkle on top of the batter. Bake for 20 minutes or until the muffin tops are lightly browned. Serve warm. Makes one dozen standard muffins & four dozen mini-muffins.
