Introduction

Yummy, cheap homemade yogurt, that is EASY. This recipe makes about 10 1c servings of low fat yogurt. All you need is a cooler and some hot tap water. Yummy, cheap homemade yogurt, that is EASY. Ingredients

    8 c wam tapwater
    200 grams nonfat milk powder (about 3 cups)
    1 can evaporated milk (12 fl oz)
    1/4 c plain yogurt with active culture

Directions

Mix milk powder and evap. milk with lukewarm water. Add yogurt last and don't whip the yogurt in, just stir. Then pour milk-yogurt mixture into glass jars, add lids and settle them into a small cooler. Fill cooler full with the hottest tap water your tap makes. Close cooler and let sit for 6-9 hours, until set. Refrigerate before enjoying.

Makes 10 one cup servings

There are many many ways to culture your homemade yogurt, this one is my favorite. There is tons of info online about making homemade yogurt.

*The reason this milk mixture does not need to be heated before culturing is because the milk has already been "cooked" when it was proccessed. If you choose to use milk from your fridge, do some research on what temp you need to heat it to before you culture it*.
