Ingredients
-
1 3/4c Whole Wheat Flour (a little extra for rolling)
1/2 tsp salt (can be omitted)
1/4 tsp baking powder
___________________________________
1/4 c margarine (or butter-like spread)
___________________________________
1/2 c hot water
Directions
combine first set of ingredients. Cut in the butter (or butter-like spread) until small peas form inside of the bowl. Add hot water.
On a floured surface, knead for about 3 minutes, then set aside and let sit for about 15 minutes (cover with plastic wrap if desired).
Roll out tortillas very thin (or as big as you like) on a slightly floured surface. Heat a skillet to medium/medium high heat, and place tortilla in the skillet (yes without oil. There is enough butter/margarine in the tortilla to keep it from sticking). When the tortilla starts to bubble on the one side, flip the tortilla and press slightly (about 2 minutes depending on how soft or crunchy you want your tortilla)
Then flip again after another two minutes to slightly brown the other side. Place cooked tortillas inside of aluminum foil to keep warm.
Serving Size: Makes 8 whole wheat flour tortillas
Number of Servings: 8
