    1 c kasha (buckwheat)
    1 egg or egg white
    1/4 c butter or margarine
    1 c onion, chopped
    1 c celery, chopped
    1 c carrots grated
    2 c chopped apples
    1 tsp sage
    2 c hot chicken broth
    salt and pepper to taste

    Combine Kasha and egg or (egg white).
    Heat heavy skillet with lid; sear kasha until egg is cooked (2-3) minutes. Remove from pan..
    Add butter to same pan
    Saute onion, celery, carrots, apples; season with sage.
    Return kasha to pan, carefully adding broth.
    Reduce heat and simmer, covered until liquies is absorbed.
    Adjust seasonings.
    Cool thoroughly before stuffing poultry.
    Or bake separately in covered casserole at 350' for 45 minutes.
