Like the famous Linzertorte from Austria, this uses a blend of raspberry jam and chocolate chunks to make a wonderful layer under fluffy, nut-studded meringue. Ingredients

1/2 cup butter or stick margarine, softened
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
2 egg yolks
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup quick-cooking oatmeal (not instant)
1 cup dark high-quality chocolate chunks
1 1/2 cup all-fruit raspberry jam
4 egg whites
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup finely chopped hazelnuts
1/2 cup slivered almonds
Directions
Preheat oven to 350F.
Cream the butter and brown sugar.
Add egg yolks and salt. Add flour and oatmeal and knead in.
Pat batter onto a greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until lightly browned.
Remove from oven.
While hot, spread with jam and top with chocolate.
Beat egg whites until soft peaks. Beat in sugar and whip to stiff peaks.
Fold in nuts.
Gently spread on top of jam and chocolate.
Bake 25 minutes.
Cool completely. Cut into squares or bars.
