Ingredients
-
5 cups skim milk
2.5 TBS plain greek yogut
5 TBS nonfat powdered dry milk
1 cup granulated sugar
12 TBS cocoa powder, unsweetened
2 TBS vanilla extract
Directions
Pour milk into a sauce pan and bring up to 180 degrees stirring to avoid any sticking on the bottom of pan. Remove from heat and allow to cool to 110 degrees. Put a small amout of the warm milk into a smaller bowl, add the yogurt and the powdered milk, wisk well - no lumps. Add this back to the rest of the milk stirring well. Pour the mixture into container(s) that came with the yogurt maker and proccess according to the makers instructions (I use a Total Chef yogurt maker in whice I use two of the jars it came with and two Ball elite pint jars. It takes 7 hours to process). Cover and refrigerate.
Next is the fun part:
Put about 1 to 2 cups of your plain yogurt into a large bowl. Add it the sugar, cocoa and vanilla, mix well - 'til you don't really feel the grit of the granulated sugar. Mix in the rest of the yogurt. Pour this into your ice cream maker and process according to the manufacturers instructions. (I have a cuisinart ice cream maker and need to do this in two batches). I then pour the slushy goodness into 1/2 cup Glad mini round freezer containers and freeze. You can store it a any size container to freeze.
