Ingredients

    1 c whole wheat pastry flour
    1 c brown sugar
    1/2 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 c butter
    1/3 c walnuts
    5 large apples, sliced

Directions

Butter or spray the baking dish…I used an 8x8 pan, like a brownie pan. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients except for apples into a big bowl. Mix until crumbly. Slice apples to your liking. I sliced them about ˝ an inch thick and then cut them in half again. But after baking they were like apple sauce, so maybe make them thicker if you want some bite. Evenly spread out apples in greased pan. Top with the crumbly topping. Bake for 50 minutes at 350 degrees.

Let it cool for at least 10 minutes, but this is even good at room temperature or cold or reheated! Enjoy with vanilla ice cream or just on its own…or just from the pan with a big spoon.
