Ingredients

    2 cups of All-Purpose Flour
    1 1/2 cups of Sugar
    1 teaspoon of baking powder
    1 teaspoon of baking soda
    1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
    1/4 teaspoon of cloves
    1/4 teaspoon of ginger
    1 cup of buttermilk or sour milk
    1/4 cup of butter or margarine, softened
    1/4 cup of shortening
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    3 eggs

Directions

In abowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger. Add buttermilk or sour milk, margarine or butter, shortening, and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on low to medium speed till combined. Beat 2 minutes on high speed. Add eggs and beat 2 minutes more.

Pour batter into a greased 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 - 35 mintes or till a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

Serving Size: Makes 12 servings from a 13x9x2 inch pan
