Introduction

A family classic. A family classic.
Number of Servings: 20

Ingredients

    5 lemons
    10 oranges
    2 qts. apple cider
    1 qt. water
    1-2 c sugar

    Spices:
    10 cloves
    10 allspice berries
    2 cinnamon sticks
2 ginger pieces (Traditional: crystallized - I use fresh. And a lot of it. I really really like ginger.)

Tips

I made mine this year without adding the sugar water (I used extra cider instead), so we could each choose whether to add sugar or sweetener and how much to dilute it. Undiluted 10 oz with 1 pkt Splenda and 1/2 t sugar seems just about perfect to me.

Directions

Juice fruit. Boil spices in sugar water for about 5 minutes. (Again, personally, I leave them in a lot longer than that. I like spices)

Add juices.

If you're going to leave this on the stovetop or in the crockpot or whatever, avoid boiling/overheating or it will turn brownish and taste kind of bitter.
