Introduction

This is not a diet dressing but it is a family favorite for the holidays This is not a diet dressing but it is a family favorite for the holidays

Ingredients

3/4 a loaf of white bread (torn into small pieces)
3 cans oysters (use liquid from two cans)
    1 egg
3/4 to 1 cup broth (you want to make sure the mixture is moist but not too liquid - the amount depends on the type of bread)

    1. tear the bread into small pieces into a large mixing bowl
    2. in a smaller bowl - beat the egg and add the two cans of oysters with liquid into bowl plus one can with no liquid - gently mix
    3. add the Oyster mixture on top of the bread
    4. pour the chicken broth all around the bread to moisten it
    5. Gently fold the oyster mixture into the bread. If you notice dry bread and there is not enough liquid add a little more chicken broth onto the bread.
    6. Pour oyster bread mixture into the greased baking dish (my Grandmother used a pat of butter to grease the dish, I use margarine).
    7. Bake

Tips

We like ours a bit moist so depending on tastes you make want to cook longer - no more than 60 min or it will be really dry when it sets.

Directions

45 minutes at 350 degrees
cook uncovered in greased baking dish, to keep it from being too dry we take it out just as it starts to get crispy on top and has a tiny bit of liquid left. If you let it set for 20 minutes it will set so you can cut it into slices.
