    Ingredients:

    Chicken, cornish hens, 2 bird whole, frozen
    Carrots, raw, 156 grams
    Onions, raw, 1 cup, chopped
    Parsnips, 1 parsnip (9" long)
    Garlic, 2 cloves crushed
    Thyme, fresh, 9 tsp
    Rosemary, dried, .66 tbsp
    Vegetable Broth, .25 cup
    Salt, 1 tsp
    Pepper, black, 1 tsp
    Red Potato, 150 grams
    Mushrooms, fresh, 2 cup, whole
    Paprika, 2 T

Tips

Make gravy out of broth if desired (calories not calculated in this recipe). You can put the broth in the freezer for a few minutes and skim off the fat to lessen calories or refrigerate it and use the next day (don't refreeze as the hens were already frozen).


Directions

Put vegetables and broth in bottom of crock pot. Place frozen game hens on top. sprinkle with salt, pepper, and Paprika first and then top hens with other seasonings. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.

    The nutrition info can't possibly be right, in particular, the sodium. One game hen has about 200 mg of sodium, so unless the veg. broth is very salty, there's a big error here. - 4/19/16

    Easy peasy - don't even need to thaw the hen! Came out perfect! (We made only 1 hen, so halved the recipe.) - 1/23/13
