Introduction

Ingredients

    1 pound ground turkey
    two 8 oz. can tomato sauce
    one 14 oz can kidney beans (with liquid)
    one 14 oz can pinto beans (with liquid)
    1/2 cup diced onion (1/2 medium onion)
    1/4 cup diced green chili (1 chili)
    1 stalk diced celery
    two 14 oz cans diced tomato
    1 tsp. cumin powder
    1.5 tablespoon chili powder
    3/4 teaspoon black pepper
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 cup water



Tips

For spicier chili, add 1/2 tsp black pepper.
For much spicier chili, add 1/2 tsp black pepper and tablespoon cayenne pepper.
To significantly reduce the sodium content, use 2 fresh chopped medium tomatoes, and low sodium beans and tomato sauce and omit the added salt.
For much much spicier chili, add 5 or 6 jalapeno peppers to the pot.
Leftovers can be frozen for several months.


Directions

1. Brown the ground turkey in a skillet over medium heat. Drain the fat.

2.Crumble the turkey into bite sized pieces.

3. Combine the turkey with all other ingredients in a large pot and bring to a simmer over low heat.

4. Cook, stirring every 15 minutes for 2 to 3 hours.

Serving Size: 1.5 cups per serving
