Introduction
These brownies are super fudgy and delicious. They may be lower in calories and fat, but they definitely do not skimp on taste! These brownies are super fudgy and delicious. They may be lower in calories and fat, but they definitely do not skimp on taste!Number of Servings: 12
Ingredients
-
1/2 stick unsalted butter, room temp
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips (can sub with any type of chocolate, but be sure to account for calorie difference)
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup egg white substitute, or 2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
5 Oreo cookies, crushed
Tips
This recipe is going to yield gooier brownies because of the Oreo cream. Make sure you account for this and do not over bake!
Whenever I bake cookies, cakes, and brownies I always remove them from the oven a few minutes before they are done. They continue to cook in the pan once you take them out, so this technique ensures moist baked goods.
Directions
In a small bowl, melt the chocolate chips and butter. Remove from heat and add sugar and vanilla, stir until sugar is disolved. Set aside.
In another small bowl sift flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
Place Oreos in ziplock bag, seal tightly, and crush (I've found a rolling pin works really well for this).
In a large bowl combine butter mixture and flour mixture. Fold in crushed Oreos. Place batter in a greased 9-inch pan and bake 25-30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out mostly clean.
Serving Size: Makes 12 2-inch pieces
