Introduction

Guacamole or sour cream? Sour cream or guacamole? Why choose? My avocado "cream" combines the flavor of both--with a boost of protein! Guacamole or sour cream? Sour cream or guacamole? Why choose? My avocado "cream" combines the flavor of both--with a boost of protein!
Number of Servings: 10

Ingredients

    1 ripe avocado, diced
    1/2 cup Greek yogurt
    2 limes, zested and juiced

Tips

A great way to cut fat but keep creaminess is to swap Greek yogurt for sour cream in all your recipes!
I love to spice this up with everything from chopped garlic and red onion to cilantro and cumin.

Feel free to spice this up with chopped jalapenos, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes or cilantro.

Directions

Puree all ingredients in a food processor or mash together with a fork. Serve immediately.

If you make this ahead of time, press plastic wrap onto the surface of the cream and stir before serving.

Refrigerate up to 2 days, but the top will oxidize and turn brown. Scrape off the top layer or stir well.

Serving Size: Makes 1 1/4 cup; 2 tablespoons each serving

I am always surprised by the ridiculous comments & questions people put on recipe section;serving size 2 tbs read the recipe. Cream;a title because it is creamy ? mark ? listed as a tongue & cheek comparison come on folk, think before commenting, be respectful no mistake was made at all! - 10/5/12

Another way to stretch out the fat calories and also enjoy a bigger serving is to puree a can of drained english peas and mix in. Addition of jalapeno and cilantro and diced green onion boosts the flavor. - 6/3/12

I love avocado! Prevent oxidation (browning) by squirting some lime juice over the surface before laying plastic wrap on the surface to eliminate air contact. Any citrus will do the trick. - 7/5/12

I added chili powder, jalapeno, onion, and garlic powder. I'll use 1/2 a lime in the future....the tangyness (sp?) from the greek yogurt and the limes was a but much for me. I prefer a creamier avocado taste. But I will def make again! - 7/12/12

Excellent substitute, Greek yogurt for sour cream. I'm still changing over my fridge to a healthier one, so to use up my tub of sour cream I mixed 1/2 sour cream with 1/2 Greek yogurt. The overall flavor/creaminess didn't suffer at all. Nice snack! - 7/5/12
