Number of Servings: 16
Ingredients
-
1/2C Unsweetened apple sauce
1/2C Canola oil
1 1/4C natural cane sugar
3/4C plus 2TBSP unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4TSP fine grain sea salt
1/2TSP pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs, cold
1/2C whole wheat pastry flour
Tips
You can certainly cut them smaller. Cutting them into 25 squares would make them only 97 calories per brownie.
Directions
Preheat oven to 325°F. Line the bottom and sides of an 8x8 inch pan with parchment paper or foil.
Combine apple sauce, canola oil, sugar, cocoa powder & salt. (Mixture will be gritty, but should smooth out as other ingredients are added.)
Stir in the vanilla.
In a separate bowl, beat eggs, then add to brownie mixture, stirring until the eggs are thoroughly mixed in.
Add in flour. Once all the flour is mixed in, continue stirring for another 30 seconds or so.
Pour mixture into pan, spreading evenly.
Back for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center, emerges with just a little bit of batter.
Let brownies cool in pan completely on a rack, then remove them from the pan and cut into 16 squares.
Serving Size: Makes 16 squares.
