Ingredients

    # *Flour, white, 3 cup
    # Baking Powder, 6 tsp
    # Salt, 1 tsp
    # Instant Nonfat Dry Milk, 0.33 cup
    # *Crisco Pure Vegetable Oil, enough to fry in.

Directions

Mix flour, baking powder, salt. Make a well in middle. Mix dry milk with 1 cup of warm water. Pour into flour. (you may need a bit more to make a nice moist soft dough). Divided into 9 balls. Roll out. Make a small hole in the middle.

Heat oil in cast iron skillet 1/2 full. Fry bread one at a time until lightly brown, flip, drain, eat.

Some like it thin, (best for Indian Taco's), some like it thick. Adjust cooking time for thickness of bread. Best when served hot and fresh.

Type of oil it is cooked in makes a big difference. Crisco fries the best, canola is ok, but a big difference in taste.

    O.K.
Aww this is a great Poori recipe. Since Dalda in 70s was declared unhealthy for the arteries i have never used Hydrogenated oils. My parents used to use 'Ghee" for Poori. I have never made pooris in anything other than oil. But i am going to add the milk powder to the dough and see the difference. - 3/21/11
