Ingredients
-
4 Apples, fresh, (3-1/4" dia) (Braeburn is best)
3 tsp Granulated Sugar
.5 tsp Nutmeg, ground
.25 tsp Ginger, ground
.5 tspCinnamon, ground
Lemon Juice, 1 lemon
2.5 tbsp Margarine-like spread, Country Crock, regular
2tbsp packed Brown Sugar
1.25 cup Oats
Directions
Cut the top off your apple(s), remove apple innards until you have an apple "cup" with sides about 1/2 thick. Careful not to puncture the skin. Coat with lemon juice to prevent browning, reserve some for apple innards.
Clean apple innards, removing stems, peel, seeds and hard membranes. Coat in remaining lemon juice, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. Mix well.
Spoon back into apple "cups", leaving 1/4inch at top for the topping.
For the topping, mix oats, margarine, brown sugar and salt together. Mix well (until creates crumbles), divide among the apples and press lightly into remaining space in the apple cup.
Bake at 350F for 40 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before handling. Serve warm.
