Introduction

A favorite to this day! Easy to make and steak becomes so tender cooking in the slightly spicy tomato sauce. A favorite to this day! Easy to make and steak becomes so tender cooking in the slightly spicy tomato sauce.
Number of Servings: 4

Ingredients

4 boneless beef round steaks (about 0.6 kg total)
    1 tbsp olive oil
    1 clove of garlic, minced
    1 large onion, sliced
1 28 oz can of diced tomatoes
    1/2 tsp oregano
    1 bay leaf
    1/4 tsp pepper
    1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Pinch of dred or fresh chopped parsley

Tips

My mom serves this over rice, but I prefer a simple fresh salad on the side. If I'm craving carbs, I serve over whole wheat egg noodles or with roasted potatoes.

My sister has done this with chicken breast as well and it's really yummy too!

Directions

Season steak with pepper. In medium skillet, cook steak on medium heat in oil until browned, about 3-4 minutes on each side.

Remove steak from pan. In drippings, saute onions and garlic until soft about 4 minutes. Add steak, tomatoes, oregano, bay leaf, and cayenne pepper to pan. Simmer, stirring occasionally, about 1 1/2 hours, until steak is very tender.

Take out the bay leaf and sprinkle with parsley before servings.
