Be careful when blending the butter. It will be hot!
Some possible spice combinations: cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves; ginger and cloves; a good curry powder makes an incredibly unexpected yet tasty combination with the apples.
Use sweet apples, rather than tart, to keep the butter naturally sweet.


Core and quarter apples. Do not peel. Place in slow cooker with about 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar. Cook on low 8 to 10 hours. Blend cooked apples in blender (in batches). Return to slow cooker and cook an additional 4 hours, or until butter is richly golden and thick. Add desired spices to taste.

Serving Size: Makes about 4 cups, or 64 Tbsp.
