Introduction

Not the typical Cordon Bleu. There is no rolling of the chicken breast, just layering in a baking dish.

Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

3-4 Chicken Breasts (or 6-8 thinly sliced Chicken Breasts)
    6-8 slices of Ham
    6-12 slices of Swiss Cheese
    2 tbsp. Butter, melted
    1 cup Panko Bread Crumbs

    Sauce:
    3 tbsp. Butter
    3 tbsp. Flour
    1 cup Milk
    1/2 cup Chicken Broth
    1/2 - 1 tbsp. Dijon Mustard
    3/4 - 1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan Cheese

Tips

Sprinkle with parsley or cilantro.
You can increase or decrease amount of ham and cheese based on your preference (I like only a thin layer of ham and cheese).
I serve it with egg noodles.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In small to medium bowl, combine bread crumbs and melted butter; set aside.

In a baking dish (or casserole dish), make a layer using the chicken breasts. (If using full breasts, cut the breasts in half or use a mallet to make thinner). Cover the chicken with ham and then with swiss cheese. Chicken should be completely covered. Sprinkle the bread crumbs on top of the cheese layer.

Bake for 30 to 35minutes or until chicken is thoroughly cooked.

Sauce:
In a medium sauce pan, melt the butter on medium heat. Whisk in flour and let cook 1 to 2 minutes. Slowly pour in the milk and chicken broth while whisking continuously. Whisk until mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat and stir in the mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and parmesan cheese. Keep Warm.

When chicken is done, plate chicken and top with desired amount of sauce.
