Ingredients

1 can (15 oz) of black beans
1/4 cup of uncooked quinoa
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup minced yellow bell pepper
2 tablespoons of minced onion
1 large clove of garlic, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin (reduce for less spice)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 teaspoon of hot pepper sauce (if desired)
5 burger buns or 22 slider burger buns of your choice (not included in nutritional information).
Tips
Alternatively, if you do not own a grill, you can cook these in a skillet with 3 tablespoons of oil, 2-3 minutes per side.

Directions
1. Bring the quinoa and water to a boil in a small saucepan. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover and summer until the quinoa is tender and the water has absorbed, about 15 minutes.
While quinoa is cooking:
2. Pre-heat grill to 350
3. Mash the black beans with a fork or a masher into a paste like form, leaving some whole black beans.
4. Using your hands, mix the quinoa, bread crumbs, bell pepper, onion, garlic, cumin, salt, egg and hot pepper sauce (if using) into the black beans.
5. Form the mixture into 5 equal patties or 22 palm size patties.
6. Cook the patties on the grill, 5-8 minutes.
