Introduction

Sweet and filling side dish made with caramelized onion, cabbage and vinegar. Sweet and filling side dish made with caramelized onion, cabbage and vinegar.
Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    Cabbage (1 head red or green would work as well)
    Sweet onion (1 medium)
    Vinegar (1/4 cup either cider or white is fine)
    Brown Sugar (loosely measured 1/4 cup)

Directions

chop onion into half inch slivers and brown in pan
shred the red cabbage by cutting in half and then making 1/4" slices down each side. (don't forget to wash it thoroughly after shredding!)
add cabbage to the pan with onions in it.
sprinkle 1/4 cup brown sugar and about one half cup vinegar over the cabbage and onion mixture.
Toss and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
