    Self-rising flour, shortening, buttermilk

Tips

If you don't want to use Crisco, you can use lard ... but then the recipe will no longer be vegetarian.


Directions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Use extra Crisco on wrapper from Crisco sticks to grease a glass, rectangle pan.

Cut Crisco into flour using two butter knives or a pastry cutter. Once crumbly, mix in butter milk. Flour your hands, then scoop up handfuls of dough and drop into pan. Should make about 18.

Serving Size: Makes 18 buscuits
