Ingredients

*sweet yellow onion, raw (1 medium onion), 3 serving
Olive Oil, 1.5 tbsp
*Dried Thyme, 3 tsp
Bay Leaf, 1 tsp, crumbled
Red Wine, 4 fl oz
*Flour, white, .125 cup
*beef broth reduced sodium, 4 cup
Bread, italian, 2 oz
Gouda Cheese, 2 oz
Tips
Put the bowls on a foil lined cookie sheet in case of spillage.
Directions
Thinly slice onions
Cook on med-hi for 20 min. in thyme, olive oil, and bay leaf
Add red wine stirring
Reduce to half amount
Sprinkle with flour
Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil
Simmer for 5 to 10 minutes
While broth is simmering, toast the italian bread
Turn on oven and set to broil
Put broth in oven safe bowls, add toasted bread and cover with gouda
Place in broiler for 30 to 60 seconds until cheese is golden brown
Serving Size: makes 4 cups (2 servings)
