Introduction

My typical dark chocolate almond milk smoothie, but with half the dark chocolate almond milk and substituting pumpkin protein (from Omega) for whey protein. Pumpkin protein is all natural, made right here in the Pacific Northwest, minimally processed (unlike whey) and for those avoiding non-fruit sugars, it's unsweetened. Its protein profile is right across the amino acid spectrum. Good stuff! Ingredients

2 tbsp Omega Pumpkin Protein Powder
1 scoop Amazing Grass Super Kidz Vitamin Powder
1/2 cup plain full fat Greek yogurt
1/4 cup frozen blueberries (about 15)
1/2 cup frozen strawberries (about 6 large or 8 sm/med)
1/2 cup dark chocolate almond milk

Tips

I made this into a two-smoothie recipe because that's the way I make it and I usually share it with my son, so calculating my calories is easier if it's stored this way. If you drink a whole 16-ounce smoothie, make sure you put two servings into your nutrition tracker!

Note: The Amazing Kids powder contains both pure cocoa and vitamins from fruit and vegetables. If you don't want to add it or you don't have it, you can attain a similar effect by adding a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder, a pinch of stevia, and a cup or so of any dark leafy green to the mix instead.

Directions

Add all ingredients to a blender with an "ice crush" setting (or thaw the frozen fruit slightly before making your smoothie). I usually add the almond milk first, the the dry powders, then top with the yogurt and fruit. Blend for 1 minute on the "ice crush" setting and another minutre on the "puree" setting.

Serving Size: Makes 1 16-ounce or two 8-ounce smoothies. Calories for ONE 8-ounce smoothie.
