Ingredients
-
Pillsbury Crescent Rolls - 1 tube
Ragu Homemade Style Pizza Sauce - 0.25 cup each (for dipping)
Hormel Turkey Pepperoni - 17 Pepperonis
Market Pantry Mozzarella Reduced Fat Shredded Cheese - 1 cup
Waffle Iron For Cooking
Cooking spray (if needed for your waffle iron)
Tips
You can easily substitute in other fillings, such as ham, or even a vegetarian alternative, to allow this recipe to be suitable for everyone.
Directions
If you have a waffle iron that has a preheat setting, turn it on. You will need roughly medium heat.
Open the tube of crescent rolls and pull apart each triangle. Four triangles will be the bottoms of these pockets. Split the ingredients among each triangle. Try not to fill them too close to the edges to ensure there is no melting outside the pockets when cooked.
Place a second triangle on top of each mini pizza. Put one (or two slices depending on your waffle iron) onto your preheated waffle iron. If your waffle iron is not coated with a nonstick surface, you may need to use some cooking spray. It is important that if you cook more than one at a time you do not allow them to be within one inch of each other to allow for expansion during cooking.
Allow the slices to cook for roughly 2-3 minutes each, or until they become golden brown. You can check them throughout. Remove Waffle Pizza Pockets from waffle iron. Caution, iron will be hot so I find using toaster tongs is best to remove them.
Pour pizza sauce into a small bowl and serve together for dipping. Enjoy!
