Introduction

Recently diagnosed with hypertension, I wanted to create a super-low sodium hummus that actually tastes good. I also wanted it low in fat and calories. This fit the bill. Number of Servings: 8

Ingredients

    1 can no-salt-added chick peas, rinsed and drained (or 1 1/2 cups cooked chick peas)
    2-3 fire roasted red peppers, drained and patted dry
    1 tbsp tahini
    zest of one lemon
    juice of 2 lemons
    1 tsp cumin
    2 gloves garlic, crushed

Tips

If you don't have dietary restrictions, go ahead and use regular chickpeas, and maybe add in a tbsp. of olive oil.


Directions

Whizz everything in food processor until smooth, scraping down sides as needed. If too thick, add small amount of water until you reach desired consistency.
