Ingredients
-
16 oz Sugardale Country Inn 95% Fat Free Boneless Ham - cut in to small chunks
12 serving Meijers Naturals Baby Lima Beans
8 cup (8 fl oz) Water, tap
1 tsp Pepper, black
2 tsp Garlic powder
.5 cup, chopped Onions, raw
2 tsp Salt
Tips
You can drain the cooked beans with a slotted spoon or eat as a soup with cornbread. Yum! 😉
Directions
There are 2 soaking methods. You can either soak your dry beans overnight in 6-8 cups of water (6-8 hours) or use the quick soak method, which I prefer. To use the quick soak method, add 6-8 cups of hot water to beans in a large pot. Bring to a rolling boil and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, cover and let stand for 1 hour.
In both methods, drain soak water and rinse beans.
In a large pot, add hot water to drained and rinsed beans. Add ham, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion. Bring to a rapid boil then reduce to gentle simmer with the lid tilted for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until desired tenderness.
