Introduction
Spicy mince mixture to serve with rice. Spicy mince mixture to serve with rice.Number of Servings: 4
Ingredients
-
1 Garlic clove
1 onion
500g mince (usually beef)
1 can of tomatoes
1 can of kidney beans
1 tbsp tomato puree
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 beef stock cube (or homemade stock)
Chilli powder taste
Directions
Chop and fry onion and garlic
Add mince and cook until no longer pink.
Add soy sauce and beef stock cube and mix.
Add canned tomatoes, tomato puree and kidney beans, then mix.
Add chilli powder - not too much at this stage, about half a teaspoon.
Leave to simmer for around 30 mins. Water may need to be added to prevent it drying out. After it has been cooking for around ten minutes, check the spiciness, and add more chilli powder if desired.
Serve with rice, bread or jacket potato. Alternatively, serve as part of a Mexican feast with nachos or tortillas.
Yoghurt can be added if it is too spicy (which has happened to me on many occasions!)
Chilli powder can be substituted with fresh chillis, though seeds should be removed unless you like it blow-your-head-off hot!
