Introduction

Basic Sauce, can be used over pasta, as a pizza sauce or with eggplant parmesan. Meat can be during last hour of cooking to make a meat sauce. Basic Sauce, can be used over pasta, as a pizza sauce or with eggplant parmesan. Meat can be during last hour of cooking to make a meat sauce.

Ingredients

    2 6oz cans tomato paste
    1 8oz can tomato sauce
    4 cups water
    1 tsp basil
    1 tsp oregano
    1 tsp parsley
    1 tsp garlic powder
    1 tsp sugar
    ½ tsp fennel seed crushed
    salt & pepper to taste

Directions

Add all ingredients in a pot stir and simmer for 4 hours. (May be cooked for a shorter time add less water, and crush fennel seed finer.) If adding meat, add during last hour. Brown 1 lb brown ground beef or turkey and ½ chopped onion, and add to sauce during last hour of simmering.

    I had everything in my pantry - was easy to make and smelled great while cooking. I will add some sugar next time though - it is a bit acidic. - 5/16/09
