Ingredients

    Buttermilk, lowfat, 0.75 cup
    Butter, unsalted, 5 tbsp
    Salt, 1 tsp
    Raisins, .5 cup, packed
    Baking Powder, 2 tsp
    Baking Soda, .5 tsp
    Granulated Sugar, 1 tsp
    Flour, white, 1.75 cup

You can use flour or Bisquick Light. If you use the Bisquick Light try cutting back on the salt by half. These are a nice change from muffins or biscuits.

Directions

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
Mix thoroughly the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda in a large bowl with a whisk or spoon.

Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in the raisins. Using a large spoon, blend in buttermilk until a soft dough forms.

Place dough on a floured board and roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. Using a sharp knife, cut dough into six squares, then cut each square again on the diagonal. Place triangles on ungreased baking sheet. Or you can shape into round biscuit shapes. Which ever you prefer. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.

Makes 12 scones.

I like scones and these are great especially with no sugar added jam for an afternoon snack. - 11/6/18
