Ingredients

    1/4 cup less 2 tbsp water
    1/4 tsp liquid smoke
    1 tsp brown sugar
    pinch fine salt
    3 drops red food colour
    1/4 cup dry TVP granules
    1/4 tsp maple flavouring

Directions

Combine all ingredients but TVP and maple flavouring in a small saucepan.
Bring to a boil, then add TVP and remove from heat.
Stir well to combine, cover and let sit (off the heat) for 10 minutes. Stir in maple flavouring.
Heat a dry non-stick frypan over medium-high heat.
Add the reconstituted TVP to the pan and cook until dry, about 3-4 minutes, stirring gently to prevent burning.
Store in an aritight container.
