Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

4 cups flour (you can substitute 1 cup of white flour, for 1 cup of whole wheat flour)
    1 tsp Salt
    1 tsp Sugar
    1 serving Yeast, Instant, ( or 2 1/4 tsp)
    1 3/4 cup warm water

Directions

Mix flour, salt, sugar and yeast in a large bowl and make a well in the middle. Pour the water and olive oil into the well.

With your hand incorporate all the ingredients until the dough becomes sticky

Once the dough is ready, cover the dough with saran wrap and place a towel over the bowl. Let sit in a warm area for about an hour or until the dough is doubled in size.

Once the dough is risen, take it out of the bowl. Dust a table or counter top with some flour and knead for about 2 minutes and shape the bread into your desired shape (round or oval).

Place the dough onto a lightly floured baking sheet and cover. Let rise for another hour.

Bake in the oven at 390 degrees for about 40 minutes or until the bottom of the loaf sound hollow when you tap on it.

Note: In order to make the top of the bread crispy, when you preheat the oven, place an empty tray on the lower shelf of the oven. As soon as you place the dough into the oven, pour some cold water into the tray to create steam. Do not open the stove until the bread is cooked.
