Introduction

A yummy adaptation of grandma's classic. A yummy adaptation of grandma's classic.
Number of Servings: 16

Ingredients

    1.5 c unsweetened applesauce
    2 eggs
    1.5 c sugar
    3c whole wheat flour
    1t vanilla
    1t baking soda
    1t salt
    1T cinnamon
    3c sliced apples

Directions

Mix together apple sauce and eggs and let stand a few minutes.
Add sugar to mixture, mixing by hand, and let stand five minutes longer.
Then add 2c of the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, vanilla, and apples.
Mix in remaining cup of flour and spread in 9"x 13" pan that has been lightly oiled with non-stick spray.
Bake at 370 F, for 20 min.
Turn oven down to 350 F, and bake 40 min. longer. (This cooking time was perfect for my gas oven, but in our new electric oven I need to take the cake out 5-10 min early.)
