Introduction
A yummy sounding dessert in the crockpot that I got from a cookbook I have. I haven't tried it yet, but there is no nutrition info in the cookbook so I wanted to check it out before making it. It's a little high in calories so this should be a once in awhile treat when you can fit it in your diet. A yummy sounding dessert in the crockpot that I got from a cookbook I have. Ingredients
-
5 cooking apples, peeled and sliced (I put small in the nutrition calculation, so if they are medium perhaps use 4.)
2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 t nutmeg
1/3 cup smart balance light
2 T natural peanut butter (I use the freshly ground peanut butter at Fred meyer; it's slightly less calories than Adam's)
Directions
Place apple slices in slow-cooking pot. In medium bowl, combine sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix in butter and peanut butter with pastry blender or fork. SPrinkle over apples. Cover pot and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours. Serve warm; plain, with ice cream or whipped cream (I would suggest low fat or fat free whipped cream if you can fit it into your diet, but this is already high in calories!) Makes 5 servings. I'm not sure how big the servings are, sorry.
