This meal is comforting all the way to your bones! It can be served over noodles, rice or my favorite mashed potatoes. This meal is comforting all the way to your bones! It can be served over noodles, rice or my favorite mashed potatoes.

    1 lb lean stew beef cut into bite size pieces
    1 medium onion cut into slices
    1 stalk of celery diced
    1 can of cream of mushroom soup 98% fat free
    2 Tbs of flour
    1/2 tsp ground black pepper
    1/2 tsp garlic powder


Spread cut onions in the bottom of a 4qt slow cooker. Mix flour, pepper and garlic together in a bowl and roll meat in it until covered. Place meat over onions. Spread soup over meat until covered and top with celery. Cook on low for 7-8 hours.

    I thought this was fantastic! Plenty for me & three girls--they didn't love it, but they ate it! Served on mashed potatoes--so filling and delicious. Yum! - 3/16/09

    This didn't even make enough to feed my husband - the onions were still very raw, the "gravy" was like water and it didn't taste like anything. I had to go out and buy dinner for myself since there wasn't enough for two. - 1/12/09

    Sounds like something may be wrong with your crockpot. I cant imagine cooking onions for 8 hours and them being raw? Very strange as far as the ammount it calls for a pound of meat thats usually enough for four people or two huge protions. I love to eat and this feeds myself and DH and lunch.

  • Made this yesterday, both my husband and I really liked it. Started it on high for an hour because of BEHAPPY0201's comment. Lowered temp. to low after an hour and the whole thing was done in 5 hours -including onions. I added some beef bouillon to thin the gravy some. Definitely making it again. - 9/30/13

  • Perfect healthy comfort food! I put it over low-carb pasta noodles, and it was wonderful! My husband likes it over potatoes, and my kids like it with rice. Add a green salad, and you've got a crowd-pleaser of a meal. - 9/12/11

  • I did not have mushroom soup, I chopped up fresh mushrooms and added. I did not have fresh celery, I put a can of lowfat and low sodium celery soup on top instread of celery. This was declicious! - 2/19/10

  • BEHAPPY0201 1 LB Of meat should feed 4 people, but if a person is a hearty eater and wants 8 oz of meat then the recipe will still feed two people.

    The recipe sounds good, the only thing it seems like it needs is some rice to go on top of or maybe a sie salad and then the meal would be complete. - 11/6/09

  • This dish was a nice change from using brown gravy for my beef and noodles. I also added fresh mushrooms, chopped green pepper, and some sliced carrots! Fed a family of four easily (two small children). - 1/22/09
