Ingredients

    3 1/2 cups fresh pitted sour cherries
    2/3 cup sugar
    water
    1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
    1 cup sugar
    1 T. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 cup milk
    2 T. butter

Directions

Combine cherries water and 2/3 cup sugar. Bring to a boil, simmer for about 10 minutes. Cool completely!
Preheat oven to 375. Place 9'x13' baking pan in oven with the butter in it to melt. Meanwhile, combine flour, sugar baking powder and salt in a bowl. Add milk and mix to combine. When butter is melted in pan and hot, pour batter into pan. Carefully spoon cherriy mixture over batter. Bake for 45 minutes. Cherries and batter will exchange places before cobler is done baking. Makes 12 servings.

    Thank you for the recipe. I altered it slightly with splenda, added some orange juice to the cobbler with the milk and also added frozen mixed berries. It was very delicious and I thank you for the basic recipe. - 11/12/08
