Introduction
Great Cold Weather Stew Great Cold Weather StewNumber of Servings: 1
Ingredients
-
Lamb Shank 16 - 20 oz
Pearled Barley, dried - 16 oz bag
Frozen Stew Veggies - one 24 oz bag
6 cloves of garlic
2 whole bay leaves (the ingredient finder didn't have whole ones, don't grind them up)
Salt and Pepper to taste
Directions
Put a nice lamb shank, garlic, stew veggies, two whole bay leaves (you're going to remove them when the stew is done), and barley in the crock pot and fill with water. Add a little salt and pepper, not much, you can fine tune it when it's done. Put in plenty of water, the barley will suck up lots of it.
Use low if you are putting it on VERY early in the morning for dinner that night, otherwise put it on high/low shift and head out to work. When you get home, fish out the bay leaves and the bone from the lamb shank. Stir the meat through the stew and fine tune the salt and pepper.
Let the bone cool and give it to your dog, it's full of great marrow and soup flavors.
Enjoy!
