Ingredients

1 lb bag of split peas
3 cups diced fully cooked ham
8 cups of water or chicken stock or ham stock
    3 ribs of celery diced
    4 Medium Potatoes, diced
    1 Green Pepper, diced
    1 Large Onion, diced
    5 teaspoons Chicken bouillion granules
    1 teaspoon rubbed sage
    1/2 teaspoon basil
    1/2 - 1 teaspoon Black Pepper

Directions

Prepare veggies. I used food processor to prepare them. For the ham, I boiled the meat off of the ham bone that I had left over from Christmas Dinner and saved the ham stock and used it for the liquid, and cut up the ham. It had come clean off of the bone. Then combine all ingredients in 6 quart dutch oven or stock pot. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Then cover and reduce heat, and simmer for one and a half hours. Then I used an immersion blender to semi-puree it, leaving some chunks for texture.

Makes about seven 2-cup servings.
