Ingredients

    1 lb. ground beef, browned and drained
    3 strips bacon, fried crisp & drained
    ½ onion, chopped
    1 small can sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
    4-6 servings instant mashed potatoes
    dash nutmeg
    dash salt
    dash pepper

Directions

Brown the meat and onion, draining fat. Crumble crisp bacon and stir in, along with nutmeg, salt and pepper. Layer the meat, then kraut, then mashed potatoes in the casserole dish and bake at 350° F, uncovered, until the potatoes begin to brown. Serve with a green salad and a good beer.

    This was really good. The husband loved it.

    I used ground turkey and russet potatoes instead of instant. Just boiled them for a few minutes until soft, then mash with skim milk and pepper and add to the top. Yum.
