Introduction

Alternative to baking brownies with flour - adds a little fiber to your diet. Easy to prepare. For variety add raisins or walnuts. Alternative to baking brownies with flour - adds a little fiber to your diet. Easy to prepare. For variety add raisins or walnuts.

Ingredients

    3 Tbsp oil
    3 eggs
    3/4 cup sugar
    1 1/2 cups garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
    1/4 cup cocoa
    1 tsp vanilla
    1/2 cup chocolate chips

Directions

Blend all ingredients in blender (except choc. chips). Pour into greased 9x9 inch baking dish. Sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips. (Feel free to add walnuts, raisins, etc.- just add those in when you add the chocolate chips - we like our brownies plain) Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until edges are browned and pull away from edges of the dish.

    Why not make these with coconut sugar or xylitol? You use the same amount as cane sugar but they don't raise your insulin levels. - 5/8/13

    Hi - there really isn't that much oil in the recipe, but you could probably substitute applesauce like you can in most cake recipes - hope that helps! Let me know how they turn out:-)

    I loved them. They're not low cal, but if you can have your brownies, and need to get your protein and fiber too, these are just the ticket. - 2/1/09
