Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

Ground beef, extra lean, 16 oz
    Tomato Sauce, 1 cup
    Onions, raw, 3/4 cup, chopped
Oatmeal, old fashioned, 1/2 cup uncooked
    basil, dried, 1 tsp
    Parsley, dried, 1 tbsp
    *Egg white, 1
    Garlic powder, 1/2 tsp

Directions

Mix ground beef, onions, oatmeal, basil, parsley, egg white, and garlic powder together with 2/3 cup tomato sauce in a bowl. Shape into a loaf and place in a 9" by 5" loaf pan. You may cut the loaf in half at this point to speed up the bake time and assure more even cooking. Coat the top of loaf with the remaining tomato sauce; and sprinkle with more parsley, basil, salt and pepper. Cover very loosely with a narrow strip of tin foil so the top of loaf will not burn, but do not seal the long sides of the pan with the foil. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 45 - 60 minutes until done. Makes 6 slices or servings, approximately 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick each serving.
