Introduction

Lower fat version of my previous Black Forest Cake Lower fat version of my previous Black Forest Cake
Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

    1 Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate Fudge cake mix
    1 cup water
    1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
    3 eggs
    1 pkg fat-free, sugar-free chocolate pudding
    1 cup fat-free sour cream
    2 cans lite cherry pie filling
    2 cans fat free whipped topping

Directions

Mix cake as directed on box for lower fat adding sour cream and pudding before mixing together.
Pour into 3 greased and floured 9" round pans (I use spray Pam with Flour). (Even though they may not look that full, with the extra ingredients, it tends to expand more than a normal cake but also has a tendency to fall more as well.)
Bake at 350 until it begins to seperate from the pan (toothpick trick doesn't work). Let cool for 10 minutes on cooling rack before removing from pan. Allow to cool fully.
To assemble - put bottom layer on serving plate/dish. Spoon cherries onto the middle of layer. Spray Redi-wip around outside of cherries. Repeat wth second and third layer. I also spray a dab of Redi-wip on the top layer in the middle for decoration.
Makes 12 servings
