Introduction

Add a LITTLE extra flavor to your veggies by pan frying up some turkey bacon while you steam your veggies until they are ALMOST DONE. Then add them to the pan with bacon and stir. The flavor of the bacon permeates the veggies. This IS tastier with real bacon as the flavor is stronger, but healthier with the turkey bacon. Ingredients

    celery
    1 small onion (or half)
    Brusell Sprouts
    a small turnip
any other veggie you want really
    three strips turkey bacon

Directions

Quarter the sprouts, unless they are smaller in size, then just halving them also works.

Dice the onion.

Slice up all the other veggies. I used the more delicate stalks AND the leaves at the center of the celery bunch.

In a steamer basket, steam all but the onion and bacon.

slice the bacon into small strips while heating a pan with a 2 Tbs of canola or olive oil within. Add the onions until they are browned and then add the bacon. (If using real bacon, no oil is needed the bacon provides it and you can cook the bacon and onions at the same time).

When the bacon/onion mixture is ready, add the veggies and stir. Cook only long enough to brown SOME of the veggies only slightly and serve.

    Very Good
Very Very Good. I used 2 slices of low sodium bacon very well drained of fat. I added green bell peppers to sautee with the onion and bacon. Will definately make again. - 11/8/10

I just saw your rating of my blackforest brussel sprouts. Sorry it took so long for me to see this question! I just make a bed for meat with it. Since the whole thing makes about 4 servings, I'm guessing 2-3 cups would be close.
